If you're on a National Park quest, or enjoy history, I recommend you stop in and learn about trains and boats. The hiking trails I traversed were rather low-level, and had I three extra hours, I would have taken the train round-trip.
I take pictures and share them with people. Sometimes, people share photos with me, so I write a story about the photo, and share that with everyone too. It's a photo and story blog.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park
I'm on one of those National Park quests in my life, and while circumstances have prevented any more trips for the moment due to how insanely busy I am, I stole away to Cuyahoga Valley a few weeks ago for the day. Situated between Akron and Cleveland, this is a national park Ohio-style. It doesn't take long and isn't the most amazing, but if you love history the way I do, it has some learning experiences along the trails. There's also a train and multiple minor waterfalls.

Electric Six at Pig & Whiskey, 2017
This certainly isn't the first time I've seen Electric Six, and it won't be the last. This has been one of My Bands for a long, long time, and thankfully they are well-ingrained as a pillar of Ferndale's annual BBQ/Bourbon Bonanza, Pig & Whiskey. Without further ado, here's the finest six-piece to ever dance their way into hearts across the world.
At the end of the set, Dick Valentine came down from the stage and personally hugged each and every person (hyperbole) including yours truly. What a time to be alive.

Urbanrest Brewing Co.
This weekend, I had an opportunity to attend the soft opening for Urbanrest Brewing Co. in Ferndale. My friend Bryan had a connection to the brewer from his homebrew days, and was also a kickstarter backer, which got him invited +5 to opening night. I was very impressed with the space and the beer, as well as learning about their open fermentation process from the brewmaster himself, but more than anything, it was amazing to see his dream come true all around us. No tours of the facility were available on Friday, but I at least got to capture the people enjoying what they do.

JR. JR. at the Masonic Temple
Hey there. I decided to sneak out to a show, super last minute, two weeks ago. I've lived in the Detroit area for most of my life, but this was both my first time seeing JR. JR., as well as my first time inside the Masonic Temple. Neither disappointed in the least.

Something as simple as Rock & Roll would save us all
Yesterday evening, my buddy Shawn invited me out to see his band, The Reissues, playing at The Old Miami in Cass Corridor. I've always wanted to shoot a show there, ever since I saw the music-inspired metal door, but this was the first time I'd ventured in. Shawn's band was second up, so first up, let's feature a few from Former Critics, a female-fronted emo/alternative outfit that worked overtime and fired the crowd right up, turning an empty floor into remnants of the tile.
Next up, The Reissues, the main feature of this post. Fronted by two men that exchange positions and instruments, and backed by energetic drums and creative synth use (along with a glockenspiel), these guys kept us all going for a full hour of powered rock.
I was super glad I found the time and got the invite, because this did not disappoint. Sadly I could not stay for the final band, but diaper duty calls. Anyway, better use of five bucks than a fancy coffee -- support your local music scene!
